Superior Calf Support

Our smaller Calf Helix still offers the same excellent compression benefits but it more compact and ideal for those who don't wish for such full calf coverage.

Calf injuries usually happen as a result of sudden acceleration or an abrupt change in direction which stretches the gastrocnemius or the soleus beyond their ability. The injury is described in two ways depending upon its severity:

A "pulled" calf describes when the muscle is overly stretched creating small tears in the muscle tissue.
A calf "strain" is a larger, full tear in the muscle tissue and can be described in three ways:

Grade 1
The muscle is stretched causing some small micro tears in the muscle fibers. Full recovery takes approximately two weeks.
There is a sensation of cramping and tightness with slight pain when stretched or contracted.
Grade 2
There is partial tearing of muscle fibers. Full recovery takes approximately 5-8 weeks.
Symptoms will be more immediate with significant pain. The calf is sore to touch and there will be bruising around the injury site after a few days.
Grade 3
This is the most severe calf strain with a complete tearing or rupture of muscle fibers. Full recovery can take 3-4 months and, in some instances, surgery may be needed.
Pain is intense and there may be a bulge of soft tissue through the muscle layer.
